Has anyone heard a release date for Animal Crossing 3DS?
Posted: 21st February 2012 in N3DSTags: 3DS, Animal Crossing
Like…recently heard.
It would be hard to argue that the 3DS was well-received in the US. Nintendo didn’t provide a compelling reason to upgrade to the new system at launch; no Mario, no Zelda, no Pokemon. The support continued to be abysmal, with some of the biggest titles for the system being remakes of N64 games. While [...]

I know that it is said that the Nintendo 3ds can’t run the Unreal Engine 3 but that is not entirely true. It can’t run it well. But I just wanted to know if the Nintendo 3ds could display graphics of that quality? Also is the arm cortex a9 a better chip than the ARM [...]

There’s another update for the 3DS coming sometime in November. Which will include Video Recording and SwapNote. But I have not seen a specific date. Those of you that have kept up with our coverage of Tetris 3DS will know that I’m a teeny bit of a Tetris nut, owning no less than five Tetris games across my three consoles at the moment. The news came in today, however, that it’s soon to be six, as Tetris 3DS is launching this October [...]
Since Nintendo announced the 3DS my thoughts on the handheld have ebbed a flowed more erratically than Nintendo’s fiscal projections (too soon?).
One of my favorite current gaming trends is the return of classic franchises. Just about every major publisher is bringing back video game characters and experiences that most gamers haven’t played in years, if ever. Nintendo is no different when it comes to the 3DS platform. First we got the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of [...]
Nintendo 3DS: what have you done for me lately
Posted: 15th September 2011 in N3DSTags: Nintendo 3DS
Today’s post was supposed to be a happy one. My rough plan was to wax on about upcoming games for the Nintendo 3DS. Games, I might add, that my inner schoolboy is excited about. Two of my all-time favourite game franchises are coming soon in the form of Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 [...]
…in Japan at least: It comes out in Japan on December 10th, the price will be 1500 Yen (that’s roughly $20, guess I was right… check out the recent TLL episode) and it requires 1 AAA battery. Here’s the current list of the 3DS games that will be support it aside from Monster Hunter:
Almost two months after the launch date of the Nintendo 3DS, we can read that sales aren’t going as good as expected by everyone. Furthermore, the PSP is outselling the Nintendo 3DS in Japan… Some people argue the reason is the 3DS has a high price tag (actually it’s as expensive as a home console); [...]
August 24th, 2011 Nintendo have announced they will bring back Nintendo Conference, an event first held in September of 2010 to show off the Nintendo 3DS to a then-unsuspecting Japanese crowd.
Australian Retailers Sell Out of Nintendo 3DS Consoles Over Weekend

The Nintendo 3DS was hard to find over the weekend as many Australian retailers sold out a week after Nintendo made effective a price drop on the hardware.
Something’s brewing at Nintendo headquarters. According to Gamasutra, the company is planning a news conference in Tokyo on September 13, with only one topic of discussion: the future of the Nintendo 3DS.
When I heard Nintendo was dropping the price of the 3DS so soon after launch, I knew it was in trouble. Nintendo is no stranger to success. The top five consoles/handhelds include three Nintendo devices. And yet, sluggish sales forced Nintendo to slash prices on its newest offering, the 3-D handheld, the 3DS. You would [...]
Almost a decade has passed since the last Zone of the Enders was released. Since that time, the franchise has more or less gone dormant outside of Konami’s plans to remake the franchise’s two core PS2 titles in HD.
Nintendo‘s price drop for the 3DS has had an immediate impact on sales in Japan. Weekly Japanese tracking entity Media Create reports the 3DS sold almost 215,000 units last week alone, according to translations via Andriasang. Likewise, Nikkei reports sales of 207,000 units.
It may be curtains in Kyoto for venerable gamemaker Nintendo, after the company’s huge bet that falling sales could be saved by the spring release of its 3DS portable have turned out to be much worse than even the worst-case scenario. Nintendo‘s fortunes following the U.S. release of the new handheld in March (February in [...]

That number has now risen to seven after Nintendo confirmed that Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, and Super [...]

Nintendo has launched a system update for the Nintendo 3DS which updates the system to firmware 2.1.0-4. While it is not immediately known what impact the software update will have, Nintendo states that the update was to improve system stability and that the udpate contained minor adjustments to enhance the overall user experience.
Update 2: Nintendo has responded with this statement: “An internal Amazon.com shipping issue triggered a brief hold on orders of Nintendo 3DS systems while the situation was reviewed, as is common in such matters. Amazon.com resolved the issue, and Nintendo 3DS orders have resumed. There are no issues with Nintendo 3DS inventory or quality. For [...]

Nintendo 3DS Purchase Intent Dropped 27 Percent Prior To Launch
Posted: 29th June 2011 in N3DSTags: N3DS, Nintendo 3DS
Consumer interest in Nintendo’s 3DS handheld dropped dramatically between its announcement in 2010 and its release this past March. That’s according to a new report from market research firm Interpret, which says that consumer purchase intent went down 27 percent between its initial announcement and its retail debut.
Launched with great fanfare and expectation in March, Nintendo’s 3DS has not yet set the gaming world on fire — partly because the content, price and interest aren’t hitting a sweet spot among casual gamers (who would create a breakaway hit).

The continued sales success of the PSP-3000 in Japan is something of a surprise. Not only to us but also it would seem to Sony who have been struggling to manufacture enough of the handhelds to meet demand if retailer blogs and anecdotal evidence are to be believed.
With the 3DS out in stores it’s time for innovation so Ubisoft have stepped up to the challenge with their long running popular Ghost Recon series. Making the jump from tactical first person shooters on consoles to a top-down turn based strategy title on the handheld it’s a big leap for this long running series [...]
The 3DS isn’t selling well and it’s your fault – at least that’s what Nintendo’s CEO is suggesting. According to Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, most people don’t know what the heck to do with the thing. Jeez! CVG points to this quote:
